Comicfix packages EL MUERTO Comic Book in new Wilmer Valderrama Zombie DVD
Mort Todd has contributed to a comic book packaged by Comicfix in the new DVD The Dead One starring Wilmer Valderrama (That 70s Show) based on the comic El Muerto by Javier Hernandez. The eight page comic, featuring the origin of the lovable Aztec Zombie, was written by Javier and inked, toned and lettered by Mort.
Some of the pages from the El Muerto comic inked by Mort.
The DVD is also packaged with free temporary tattoos and one of the extras on the DVD is an artists' gallery by many great contemporary illustrators with their rendition of El Muerto, including Mr. Todd.
The Dead One is about Diego de la Muerte (Wilmer Valderrama) a 21-year-old Latino-American living in East L.A. During Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead celebration, Diego dresses up as a zombie mariachi and gets an Aztec death symbol tattoo. His car crashes and he is sent to Mictlan, the Land of the Dead, where he is sacrificed to Mictlantecuhtli, the God of Death, who rips Diego's heart out and seals it in a clay pot, giving him control over his soul. Diego is returned to Earth, imprisoned inside of a his dead body, his make-up permanently etched onto his face. Endowed with the dark power to restore life or to take it, he must battle against the dark god Mictlantecuhtli for his soul, and for the souls of those he loves.
